After two years of race disruption finally a ‘normal’ race season is here and competition is heating up. We take a look at three of the biggest events this spring and which INCUS enabled athletes you can expect to see on the start line.
April 23
Super League Triathlon – Triathlon Esports World Championships
London, UK
One of the most innovative events ever created, Arena Games Triathlon, powered by Zwift, marries up real life racing and e-sports to create an exciting race format that brings a completely new perspective for both athletes and spectators.
The swim (200m) takes place in an Olympic sized pool, and the bike (4km), and run (1km), legs on static equipment with the racing realised in the virtual world of Zwift, the world’s leading online training and racing platform. This provides real-time, detailed data insights so you can see how each athlete is performing at any moment.
Each Arena Games Triathlon event has three heats and a final. Heats will see two stages of swim-bike-run, the fastest 10 pros of the day will race Super League’s unique Arena Games Triathlon format to decide a victor. It’s a super tough format for athletes who need to be able to compete and recover in a short time period, plus the order of the disciplines is shuffled each time making recovery even more challenging!
On 23rd April 2022, London Aquatics Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park see some of the World’s greatest triathletes battle it out. The overall winners of the series will be named the first ever Esports Triathlon World Champions at the Grand Finale, held in Singapore later this year.
After winning the first round in Munich on April 9 INCUS enabled athlete Beth Potter will be one to watch in her home country event in London.

May 7
Ironman World Championship 2021
St. George, Utah, US
Yes, that isn’t a typo, in May we will be following the Ironman World Championship 2021, postponed from last year. It could be a short-lived reign for the eventual winner as the Ironman World Championships 2022 will hopefully return to the spiritual home of Ironman Kona, Hawaii in October. Also on offer are eight qualifying slots each, to the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii for both men and women, giving anyone not yet on the list an opportunity to secure their place while there is still five months to go.
Conditions in Utah will be hot and dry, the rugged terrain offering a challenging bike leg with considerable climbing. Following the hilly bike is an undulating run to truly test every athlete to their limits. With no previous World Championship on this course we have no times to compare. Whoever wins will be making history.
The Pro Men will start first at 06:15 local time, that’s 13:15 UK time. Pro Women are set to follow five minutes later, followed by the Physically Challenged / Handcycle athletes at 0625 and then a 20-minute gap until the Age Group waves start from 0645.The race will be broadcast live by IRONMAN via Facebook Watch and YouTube,
INCUS enabled athletes David McNamee and Ruth Astle are both on the start list. David McNamee placed third in Kona in 2017 and 2018. For Ruth it will be her first World Championship event as a pro, but with wins at Ironman Mallorca and Ironman South Africa in 2021, her first year as a professional, a big result is not out of the question.

Challenge- The Championship
Samorin, Slovakia
Set in the Olympic training centre, x-bionic sphere, this is a stunning location for a race with world class facilities and a race course to match. With a recently confirmed €100k prize purse the turn-out promises to be of a class to match the location.
Challenge is a global series of triathlon and endurance sport festivals including long-distance races, they are in iconic destinations, designed to create a memorable spectator experience that captures all the excitement and emotion of a triathlon. The festival atmosphere attracts athletes of all ages and abilities to take part in their own race and enjoy watching others.
INCUS enabled athlete Tom Davis expects to be on the start line. Davis has already raced Challenge Salou, though difficult early season weather meant windy conditions and a cancelled swim made it a less than perfect race, and he is looking ahead to Challenge Riccione on May 5
